About Synth Science
Synth Science is part of a network of independent reference sites published by one person. Synth Science explains production decisions — masking, loudness, stereo width, sidechain — in terms of how hearing actually works, and reviews the instruments and plugins that implement them.
How a page gets researched
- We define the question the way a reader would search for it, not the way a journal would phrase it.
- We pull the literature from PubMed, weighting meta-analyses, systematic reviews, randomised trials and clinical guidelines above everything else.
- We read the abstracts and, where access allows, the full text — with attention to sample size, duration, funding and whether the outcome measured is the outcome you care about.
- We write the answer, then attach the citations to the specific sentences they support.
- We re-check pages when a major trial or guideline lands.
What we are not
This is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a clinician who knows your history. Nutrition and drug research is noisy, effect sizes in free-living humans are usually smaller than the headline suggests, and almost every finding here is an average that may not describe you.
