What the evidence actually shows
Temporary threshold shift after sustained noise exposure is well documented, alongside subjective fatigue effects on judgement and attention during long sessions. [1]
This is about as settled as questions in this field get: consistent findings across multiple trials or a synthesis that pools them. Remaining disagreement is usually about size and applicability rather than about whether the effect is real.
The catch
Repeated temporary shifts are associated with permanent damage over time. Treating fatigue as a productivity problem understates it.
